Awalim’s Repetoire Created by Ziah and members of Awalim 1999 to present

  • Desert Journey by Solace: The original sword choreography written by Nichole and Val pre-Awalim. Awalim later used the song for a completely different sword piece to be performed by Kaleila, Jacque and Rosario.
  • Agri Dagindan Uchtum by Turku: Choreography under the name Awalim. Awalim performed Agri live with Turku a number of times.
  • Raqset al Assaya by Hossam Ramsy: “Beledi” Zills were added later, this was Ziah's attempt at a "folkloric" piece. It was originally 8 minutes long, just repeating half way through. Awalim's current philosophy is to keep choreographies and shows moving along by keeping them to 4 minutes...snip!
  • Crimson by Solace: Basket dance inspired by harvest dances. Includes floorwork and balancing.
  • Cybele by Solace: Originally written by Delkash and Nichole for Spirit of the Tribes, it was brought into the Awalim repetoire after being altered for a larger number of dancers.
  • Solitude by Solace: Fire finger choreography performed by Val and Ziah at Spirit of the Tribes.
  • Uskadara by Turku: written for the tour with Turku at Talequah, OK
  • Aman Avci Vurma Mani by Turku: veil piece written for Talequah tour. Six dancers with red veils flying....amazing!
  • Lesge by Turku: Written for the Talequah tour, it also made its way to Spirit with 9 Awalim members and was taken on a teaching tour throughout the East Coast and performed together by many friends of Awalim at Pennsic. It was again taught to members of the community and performed at the Show of Doom 2011. Most recently performed by Chistine Andrews, Jennifer Senn, Mavi Clay and Ziah live with Turku at Darbukistani Independance Days.
  • Rebirth by Solace: A 10 minute long props madness choreography. Veil, fire tray, candle, two sword portions and a finale. Performed at Spirit, the GA Ren Faire and TribalCon.
  • Ceremony of the Skull by Solace: Our fabulous 6/8 Zill piece.
  • Shisha Room by Solace: The Shelob choreography.
  • Advent by Solace: Our lush North African piece taken to Spirit in 2004. Little did Ziah know that she was hip twisting little Ava around in her belly.
  • Shashkin by Omar Faruk Tekbilek: Cane choreography written by Rachael Lazarus Soto and Ziah for Awalim.
  • Cat's Meow by Susu and the Cairo Cats: Drum Solo Choreography by Aziza Nawal written for Awalim.
  • Veselba by Tim Rayborn: "Bubble Gum" The original version of this was written by Ziah and Majda to be performed live with Denys Proteau at Pennsic who inspired their love for sevens. It was later altered to fit Rayborn's recorded version and was Ava’s debut performance music.
  • Saiidi/Debke by Nevik: Originally written by Majda and Ziah to be performed live with Nevik and Kazuki at Pennsic, it was later performed to the recorded version on Nevik's album Black Drum.
  • Jo by Digital Bled: Modern Zar piece choreographed by Ziah in 2009 after the death of her mother.
  • Makrinitsa by Raquy and the Cavemen: The infamous double veil choreography. Originally created by Majda and Ziah to be performed live with Raquy on a small SE US tour. It has since been performed all over the US live and to the recorded version.
  • The Seamstress by Teribus/Nevik: Was originally choreographed to take on Awalim's UK tour and later zills were added and then later the LIVE MUSICIANS were added...what bliss!!!
